Saugus Lions 2016 Football Dinner with New England Patriots Alumni Tim Fox on November 16 at Prince Restaurant Saugus
Fox was one of three No. 1 draft picks to join the Patriots in 1976, when the team went from 3-11 to 11-3 and nearly defeated the Oakland Raiders in the playoffs. He said he wasn’t even all-state in Ohio, where he grew up as a player in Canton. But he was the 18th, and final, player to receive a scholarship to Ohio State, where he played for the legendary Woody Hayes. And while there were no Thanksgiving games in Ohio, there was the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry, something Hayes took very seriously.
Head Coaches Mike Broderick (Saugus) and Mark Bettencourt(Peabody), and guest speaker Tim Fox, a one-time strong safety for the New England Patriots.

About the Lions

Since 1917, Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities. From involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing sight to the world's blind, Lions clubs have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community
The Lions Club International is the largest and most effective community service organization in the world. We have over 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs in roughly 199 countries and areas of the world. Our motto best describes our mission: "We Serve". Lions Club International is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to helping people in need, in both the local community as well as throughout the world. At present, our major international service commitment is SightFirst: Lions Conquering Blindness, which has an aim to eliminate preventable and reversible blindness around the world.

Our Objectives...
- To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
- To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
- To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
- To unite the clubs in bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding. To provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by the club members.
- To encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.

Lions club members are men and women who strive to make a difference in their local community as well as communities worldwide. Their volunteer efforts go beyond the support of vision care, to addressing unmet health and education needs worldwide.
