It was good to see some members that we haven’t

seen for a while at our last meeting :

Dave LeBlanc, Tony Speziale, Brad Barahona, Sky Mulvaney.

It would be great to see some other members that we haven’t seen for a while come to a meeting.

It was also good to see Donald Wong & VDG Bob Sinclair at the meeting.

VDG Bob talked about some of the events & happenings going on in the district.

Thanks to all that helped out at the annual Founders Day Celebration on

Saturday September 11, 2010. The weather could not have been better.

Unfortunately we were not able to have the Eyemobile there this year due to mechanical problems with it, but we were there selling raffle tickets, water & letting people know about The Saugus Lions Club. We also had Lilly The Lion wandering about for everyones enjoyment.

Saturday September 25 was our annual Canning Drive. This is one of our

biggest & best fundraisers of the year. Thanks to Joe Cefalo for running

this event every year, & thanks to all the Lions & friends that helped out.

Thanks to everyones help we were able to raise over $ 3600.00

for Saugus Lions Charities & Eye Research !!!!

We are in the process of selling raffle tickets to raise money for

The Saugus Lions Clubs' many charities including Eye Research.

Lets all help to sell as many tickets as we can. The more money we raise for

our club, the more we have for donations for those who are less fortunate !!!!

On a sad note :

Our thoughts & prayers go out to Martha Poti & Frank Rossetti on the passing of Martha’s

son, Nicholas, on September 19. We are all thinking of you in this time of sorrow.

Our thoughts & prayers also go out to Dave LeBlanc who lost his brother Phil a couple of weeks ago.

Our thoughts & prayers also go out to Arthur Combe, who’s mother at the time of this writing is very ill & in Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody.

Also, Anthony LaRosa’s mother is in Eastpoint Nursing Home in Chelsea.

In the last bulletin it was mentioned that John Blood was in a nursing home in Weymouth. He is now living with his daughter in Weymouth. If anyone would like to send John a letter, his daughter’s address is :

Joan Cooper  115 Front St.  Weymouth, Mass.02188

I think John would love to hear from some of us !!!!

It is with great honor to announce that The Saugus Lions Club Board Of Directors have voted on presenting John with a Life Membership for his many years of service to the club.

Wednesday evening November 17 will be our annual Thanksgiving Football Banquet. We are in the process of putting together the evening. Details will follow shortly.

 Just an early announcement :

Wednesday evening December 1, 2010 will be our annual Toys For Tots Night.

Please bring your donations for the Toys For Tots program to the meeting that evening.

Please remember that all toys must be unwrapped. We are also being told that gift cards are a great idea. All donations will go to Saugus residents !!!!

We are also inviting our spouses to the meeting that evening for a little holiday party.

Their will be a wonderful dinner & entertainment that evening.

Hopefully we can get a good turnout so we can get our spouses & significant others together to celebrate the holiday season.

Past District Governor Ted Irvin would like to thank The Saugus Lions Club for their donation to Mass. Lions Eye Research in memory of his granddaughter Corissa who passed away recently!
